Beloved Mother, Aunt and Friend
Diana C. Schlander, 94, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026 with her loving son at her side. Diana was born March 15, 1931 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Charles Lee and Ida (Graveline) Lee. Diana was the widow of the late Robert Schlander.
If you knew Diana, you were blessed by her genuine smile, her love of people and her joy of life. She was a wonderful cook and baker. Holidays were even more special because of her pies and cakes. Diane loved parties at Christmas at her sister Janet’s house and at her Aunt Alice’s house. She spent many hours searching for just the right gifts for those she loved. She loved people and made friends instantly. She enjoyed travelling, the beaches of Rhode Island, dancing and spending time with her beloved pets. Her afternoon walks with her favorite dog at her side, rain or shine, always brought a smile to her lovely face. Diana’s family was the center of her heart and life. She was a loving mother, wife, aunt, cousin and friend.
Left to her cherish her love and memory are her devoted son Richard Poplis of Waterbury, her goddaughter Diane Bearce of Watertown and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Diana was predeceased by her husband Robert, her parents and her brother Charles Lee and sister Janet Bernier.
Friends and family are invited to visit with Diana’s family Tuesday, February 17, 2026 from 9am to 10am at Prospect Memorial/ The Palmerie Family Funeral Home, 122 Waterbury Rd., Prospect followed by a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony’s Church, 4 Union City Rd., Prospect at 11am. Interment will immediately follow at Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Prospect Memorial/ The Palmerie Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements and to care for Diana’s family throughout their grief journey.
